(I am on a 2008 MacBook Pro 2.5GHz Intel Core Duo w/4GB RAM running Snow Leopard 10.6.5, my Firefox version is 3.6.12)
I have had Firefox open all day, I have these addons:
? 1-Click YouTube Video Downloader 1.5
? 1Password
? Download Statusbar
? Firebug
? Facebook PhotoZoom
? Firefox PDF Plugin for Mac OS X
? StumbleUpon
? ReadItLater
I have tried switching browsers before, but there's just too much I udownload firebug for chromese in Firefox and I love the feel of it. And, as a web designer, Firebug is my best friend. Chrome, Safari, and Opera only use 40MB-60MB at most, is there ANY way I can get Firefox to use less?
Wait... you're using several add-ons... and FF has been open all day, and you're wondering why it's using a mere 220MB of RAM? Let's put it in context... you have 4GB... so 200MB = .2GB which is 5% of your RAM. So, FireFox is using just over 5% of your RAM. That's hardly alarming. If you wdownload firebug for chromeant it to use less, close some of your tabs (I bet you have a bunch) and uninstall some of those crappy add-ons.
This version troubles a lot, I was using the same version and was facing the same problem some days before, one of my colleague advised me to use the version 3.6. After installing this version i got rid of this problem.
